Scanner
Dental Technology
A dental scanner, also known as an intraoral scanner, is a device used in dentistry to create digital impressions of a patient's teeth and oral structures. A dental scanner is used to capture detailed, precise, and three-dimensional (3D) images of a patient's teeth, gums, and surrounding tissues. These digital impressions are used for various dental procedures, including restorative dentistry, orthodontics, and prosthodontics.
How Dental Scanners Work:
The dentist or dental assistant scans the patient's mouth by moving the handheld wand over the teeth and gums. As the scanner captures images, software processes the data in real-time to create a digital impression on a computer screen. The scanner may use different technologies, such as structured light, confocal microscopy, or laser triangulation, to capture accurate 3D images.
